Third Grade

Sunday 9:00 - 11:30 a.m.

Dear 3rd Grade Parents,

Welcome to the 5774 school year!  We are so excited to be teaching your students.  We would like to introduce ourselves and let you know a little bit about the third-grade course of study at KI.

This year's curriculum will introduce the concept of God using a variety of methods: storytelling, discussion, art projects, a question box, and more.  We love this curriculum and hope that your children will connect with it.  In the first week of school we'll be doing an art and discussion project on what we believe God is and is not.  During the year, we'll send updates and you should feel free to contact us as well with questions and concerns.

Jessica Jacobs

(Room - Chapel)

I am so pleased to be returning for my fifth year at Kehillat Israel.  Along with teaching 7th grade, I am the Hebrew Coordinator for 4th-6th grade, a 3rd grade teacher, and a private Hebrew tutor.  I am passionate about Jewish education, and have been teaching Jewish values and traditions since working as a teacher's assistant at my congregation in the Bay Area from 2000-2004.  I graduated from Stanford in 2008 with a degree in creative writing, and since then I've been living in Los Angeles, happily pursuing both Jewish education and acting, along with writing a food blog.  I love to bring art, music and food into the classroom as learning tools.  My favorite part of teaching 7th grade is running the cooking elective.  It is a thrill to share my love of good food with the students and to teach them that they too can make healthy, delicious food that reflects our diverse Jewish heritage.

(Room - Library)

I grew up here in Los Angeles and attended Brentwood School. I graduated from The University of Arizona in 2012 with a BA in Education and a Minor in Judaic Studies. During the week, I am a 2nd grade teaching assistant at Viewpoint School in Calabasas.  Along with teaching 7th grade at KI, I also teach 3rd and 5th grades, am one of the OJE Hebrew tutors and lead the 7th grade Rosh Hodesh group. When not teaching, tutoring or leading a group, you can usually find me on the couch watching sports or in the kitchen cooking or spending time with my family and friends.
